Jasper Morrison and Naoto Fukasawa’s Super Normal

Super Normal (2006) began as Jasper Morrison and Naoto Fukasawa’s gradual noticing that certain modest, often anonymously designed objects outperform others in long-term, everyday use.

Motivated by the question of why these objects endure, they had an exhibition at Axis Gallery in Tokyo that brought together examples ranging from the Bialetti espresso maker to an unassuming mass-produced glass. The selection captured the essence of the idea: that the most lasting designs are not defined by authorship or appearance, but by their ability to function so naturally and intuitively that they blend into daily life and becoming indispensable over time.
