Beneath Museum SAN’s flower Ground brings together architect Tadao Ando and artist Antony Gormley in their first collaboration.
The new 25-metre-wide dome is part of Museum SAN’s expansion, designed as a concrete, cave-like gallery that opens toward the mountains of Wonju. Inside, seven of Gormley’s cast-iron ‘Blockworks’ figures are arranged to interact with natural light from a central oculus and an arched opening, extending the installation to an outdoor terrace.
The project continues Museum SAN’s focus on spaces where art, architecture, and landscape are experienced as one.
